Prospective volunteers must attend an orientation. Volunteers who are interested in working with the dogs must also complete a mentoring session. Please note that all volunteers, including volunteer photographers, fundraiser volunteers and those interested in working in the cat cottage, must attend an orientation. For general volunteer information, please visit our main volunteer information page.
Orientation
Orientations are scheduled at 10 AM on the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the shelter. Registration is required.
During orientation, you will learn about PAWS Atlanta’s history and our policies and procedures. You will be given a tour of the facility. You will also submit an application and a signed consent form. Please note that PAWS Atlanta volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Visit our volunteer forms page to access the application and consent form.
Mentoring Session for Dog Volunteers
If you are interested in working with the dogs at PAWS Atlanta, you will be asked to schedule a mentoring session with a senior volunteer or a staff member. During the mentoring session, you will learn about the dogs who are housed at the shelter, how to correctly walk a dog, the dos and don’ts of working with shelter dogs and important information to keep you and our animals safe and happy. Mentoring sessions will be scheduled at the conclusion of the volunteer orientation.
If you have additional questions, please contact us.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you at a future volunteer orientation.
